Crazy! Hot! And Living On The Edge!!

The Author

Shirley Harris-Slaughter

I remember going to see a wholistic chiropractor to address some bone issues I was having, and to address my overall health concerns. I saw him once a week without fail. I started to get so much better. I do recommend something like this to get your body working and give you some peace of mind.

As we reached the end of my sessions he started getting into some mind relaxation techniques which I welcomed wholeheartedly. On the last session we were sitting in a room going over everything that he did for me. Then he just sat there and stared at me to the point that I started feeling very uncomfortable being in the same room with him.

So finally I got up after the silence became too deafening and said my good byes. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I was so glad he didn’t flip out on me while I was in the middle of my time with him.

Now you see what I mean when I called the title Crazy! Hot! And Living On The Edge!! Some crazy stuff kept happening all the time. Some of it was an experience you wouldn’t believe and some of it was downright creepy or crazy.

That’s the way life is sometimes. I have to be able to tell my story with a straight face. Lacking that, adding a little humor or finding humor in what I endured can be therapeutic and a healing experience. Turning it into a fiction is better yet because it allows you the room to say whatever pops into your head.

Folks are already inquiring as to whether or not I do seminars and they are asking me if the story is true. I’m happy to tell them that it is all true!

It’s my crazy upside down life.

SHS6Speaking of speaking engagements. I am invited to speak in Camden, NJ at a Book Event in my honor in Cherry Hill NJ on Saturday May 9, 2015. It starts at 4:00 pm and ends at 6:00 pm. I will go right to the event at the Holiday Inn where I will be staying barely having time to check in. It’s so exciting. One individual found my book online and sent me an email telling me how enjoyable it was. That book is Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African American Catholic Community.

I cannot begin to express to you my gratefulness for having my work so appreciated that they would pay all expenses to have me appear. When she found out that I did not have the support from the big bookstores (Barnes & Noble) to put on a book event there, she (Ida) took the steps necessary to get me there on her own. Now that’s what I call determination. That was also a wakeup call for me to take another look at Barnes & Noble. I discovered that they have no respect for Indie Authors. But I’m not going to let them “rain on my parade.” But just know that being in Rave Reviews Book Club is our best hope of getting any kind of recognition. We are becoming a force in numbers. We are shaping the way Amazon is operating and I bet they aren’t even aware of us just yet, not even Barnes & Noble.
