The Shadow of Daylight
Volume 2 of The Cursed Mage Case Files
Coming soon (first draft 45% done)
Manny Mandeheim, arch-mage turned magical sleuth, thought his troubles peaked with a curse and a shadowy Order—until he learned his fiancé, Adrienne, isn’t dead, but alive and wielding betrayal like a blade. Now, alongside his earnest but inexperienced partner Wish Ackford, Manny faces a new puzzle in the steam-charged city of Cal Rindon: a vanishing dagger tied to a flurry of clients whose cases weave an uncanny web.
With the Order still lurking and Adrienne’s anti-magic prowess threatening to snuff out his already faltering spells, Manny’s curse makes every incantation a roll of the dice—potentially his last. The dagger’s trail offers scant clues, yet the duo’s growing list of clients, from frantic merchants to a shady creditor demanding payment, insists on answers. As chaos brews on Cal Rindon’s gaslit streets, Manny and Wish race to unravel the mystery, dodge Adrienne’s deadly reach, and keep panic at bay—all while juggling their caseload to fund their next meal (and appease that unscrupulous lender who’s inconveniently one of their own clients).
Brimming with steampunk flair and deductive charm, The Shadow of Daylight echoes the whimsical sleuthing of The Case Files of Henri Davenforth and Sherlock Holmes. Will Manny’s wits and Wish’s pluck solve the dagger’s secret—or will Adrienne’s shadow dim their light for good?
