Hello, SEers! Mae here wishing all those in the U.S. and Canada a happy Labor Day! If you live outside of these countries, I hope your Monday is spectacular as well. Labor Day is a celebration of workers, first recognized as a Federal Holiday in the United States in 1894. For many, it signals the last hurrah of summer.
When I was in school, we didn’t have long winter and spring breaks. As a result, we didn’t go back to classes until the day after Labor Day. Now, most schools begin the new year at some point in late August. Personally, I’d rather have a longer summer to enjoy, and prefer the way the school calendar used to be structured.
