As a reviewer, I’ve read some wonderful Indie books, as well as some that need serious editing or rewrites. It’s the poor writing of some indie writers that makes it harder for the rest of us to sell because while their books may be poor, they seem to know how to rise in the ranks of amazon keeping more qualified writers at low rankings and unseen. I believe Amazon should be editing/reading all Indie books before agreeing to publish them.
I agree with you, Micki. There should be some sort of quality vetting at some level. The TOC requirements and Scout seem like attempts to get at this but perhaps there should be more done. Sometimes indie feels more like a mosh pit than legit publishing.
