Greetings, fellow adventurers and fans of steampunk fantasy!
Today, I’m pleased to respond to questions about the publication status of The Cursed Mage Case Files. It’s been a while since the full first novel in the series was released and some readers have asked when the next one arrives. First, I want to apologize that more books have not been published. Over the last several years, I’ve tried to complete a book, but some cognitive health issues have interfered with my writing schedule. I have been at work on the series but started revising the book over at least four times because I was just getting lost in my work.
The good news is I’ve turned some corners over the last year, and I hope to complete the next edition. Read on for more information. I will say, I’ve been frustrated not to publish more since 2020, and I have a lot of material in rough draft not only for this series but at least three others. I’m eager to get to all the stories so I want focus on them as much as possible.
Here’s a little about The Cursed Mage Case Files for those who haven’t read the first book, The Order of the Dark Rose. The book introduces the engrossing world of The Cursed Mage Case Files series, where magic meets the gritty undertones of steampunk in a thrilling narrative that promises danger, intrigue, and plenty of twists and turns.
An Arcane Introduction
Our journey begins with The Order of the Dark Rose, the inaugural novel that introduces us to Manny Mandeheim, an arch-mage with a flair for the outlandish. But life has thrown some curveballs his way—a crippling curse, the tragic loss of his fiancée, and his dismissal from the spy service he once called his career. With enemies lurking in the shadows, Manny suddenly finds himself entangled in a series of mysteries while navigating a labyrinthine conspiracy.
Faced with limitations due to his hex, Manny is not just battling external foes but also grappling with the personal demons of loss and betrayal. Fortunately, he has an unlikely ally in Wish Ackford, his ‘un-magical’ partner who proves that determination can shine through even in the darkest of circumstances. Together, they embark on a perilous quest that tests their mettle and unravels a chilling mystery with each page turned.
A Shift in the Shadows
As thrilling as Manny’s first adventures are, there’s even more excitement on the horizon! The series is undergoing a reorganization, promising fans a detailed case per book as we step into the unfolding stories of our arch-mage and his sidekick.

• Book 5: The Chameleon (working title) – pending publication, about 30-40% completed
• Book 6: The Code of Codes (working title) – pending publication, about 30-40% completed
• Book 7: Jewels in the Mist (working title) – pending publication, about 30-40% completed
With three additional books planned, the magic is only beginning!
