Catching Up From Last Week

The weekend passed quickly and so did the week of the 4th of July. Last week, we enjoyed a local fireworks display for the holiday. Pre-4th of July we also played cards with friends and had a good time laughing and catching up on life.  We also found time to mix-in a little pool time at a small pool-party with other friends. Last week was rather busy but relaxing.

However, I found the time to more than double the number of words in The White Arrow and hope to push to the end of that this week. The official cover for the book was revealed last Friday and I’m pleased that the book is progressing nicely. I’ve also started on a blurb and shared that last week as well. I’ll be working with my editor very soon over the next month or so to iron out all the manuscript issues and heading toward publication. However, I do hope to put The White Arrow into pre-orders very soon. I did acquire a trailer for An Arrow Against the Wind which is posted below for those who haven’t seen it yet.

A few other projects will be in the works while The White Arrow is away with the editor. There may also be some further developments with The Bow of Hart Saga soon but no details to share just yet. I’m also waiting on word back on a couple of anthology submissions. I’m also working on a few more anthology submissions in the coming months. Overall, I’m staying busy.

Otherwise, the dogs are happy to stay out of the heat but our male came up a little lame. He’s got some arthritis and in his excitement to get in the car for a ride for a walk the other day, he tweaked something and ran around whimpering. He recovered and happily went for the walk. The cat is growing fast and now plays with the dogs, expecting to eat when they do. He’ll soon be making trips outside with the dogs, I’m sure.

The rest of the family is gearing up school starts. My wife has several more weeks before she reports back to teach. Meanwhile, my daughter is taking one summer class but will head back to full-time college classes during August. The summer break has gone by fast.

Thanks for reading today,

PHS

Announcement! The Bow of Destiny NOW AVAILABLE At Select Retailers!

Book Cover Green Top & Bottom Cover - CopyA recent change with Smashwords now allows authors some leeway regarding pre-sale of books. Such pre-sales are very important to a new book for a variety of reasons best summed up by Mark Coker. On June 17th, Smashwords announced that authors can now create an “asset-less” preorder book.

This means that authors may now create a book on Smashwords without uploading the final manuscript until closer to the release date. It allows the book to go into the premium catalog with the release date set up to 12 months in advance; you can read the details in the link above.

The advantage is that an author still completing a book has the ability to have the book listed with a release date on retailer sites such as Barnes & Nobel, iBooks & Kobo. Readers can reserve copies in advance, allowing authors to promote their work as it is completed. All the final sales go out on the release date, boosting the sales stats very quickly and improving visibility.

Smashwords will also port your book into Amazon KDP with $2,000 in sales upon your request. With pre-sales, if you have that much in sales upon release, you could port the book over to Amazon rather quickly. However, I’m going to verify whether Smashwords will do this if a book reaches $2,000 in pre-sales which is even more beneficial.

With all this in mind, I’ve put The Bow of Destiny into pre-sale status via Smashwords. Now you can reserve your copy at select retailers (Barnes & Nobel, Kobo & iBooks/iTunes app) and possibly Amazon/Kindle in the near future. The pre-order price The Black Bag by P H Solomonis $2.99 (sorry Smashwords doesn’t allow it to be free in pre-order). This price will go up after the release date to $5.99 so reserve your copy before 9/28/2015 to secure the sales price. Want to see a sample? Look for news in the next week on an updated version of my short story e-book, The Black Bag, which will contain a sample of The Bow of Destiny.
