The Turn of the Year

Season’s Greetings to all the Archer’s Aim readers. With the turn of the year upon us I thought I would give an update on my year past and my goals for the upcoming year.

2018 started out with a lot of promise regarding the publication of books. After beginning the use of dictation, I was able to finish the rough drafts of four books, all of which are the initial novels of new fantasy series. However during the second half of the year progress with all of these books became quite a slog through the mud. I didn’t know it at the time but I had developed a change in my hypothyroidism which was affecting my energy and focus. For the last six months, I struggled along but recently visited paid my doctor a regular visit, discovered the problem and received an adjusted dosage. I began to realize just how much the problem affected me even though it was only slightly out of treatment range. It can take several weeks before the changes take affect but I began to notice a little more energy this last week even though I’m still struggling. It appears that even mild symptoms can affect my writing productivity.

Even though I’ve been struggling along, I have made a lot of progress in addition to the rough drafts which I’ve already mentioned. Because of the problem I was having, I seem to flounder around while I was editing and switch projects more than once. I have partially completed one shorter novel while working on editing and nearing completion of a much longer novel which is code-named Mage. My hope is to gain some energy and devote more dedicated time to preparing all of these books for publication this year. I have two books which will be considered for publication in one of three ways: traditional publishing, hybrid publishing and self-publishing. I don’t know which way I will go with these just yet so these books may not the be released during 2019 though I hope that they will.

But, the news was not all bad 2018 since all three of the novels and the two free short books for The Bow of Hart Saga were published on audio by Podium Publishing. It made for a busy fall season to release all three of these books on audio but I’m pleased with the outcome as well as having the new format available to readers and listeners.

My intention to go to print with the series beginning this month but I have run into a few problems completing the print projects so that has been delayed. Print will come in good time, perhaps even during the next few months if all goes well.

Looking ahead to 2019, I will pick myself up from the difficulties of the fading year, and work to complete my various projects. As I work toward publishing between one and four books this year, I’d like to also dictate the next books in each series. Also, as I mentioned in a previous post, I am beginning to have some ideas about a sequel to The Bow of Hart Saga. I’ve already begun making notes about what this sequel would look like, so it may be that I will be able to begin some work on that it this year as well. Thanks to all of the readers out there for their support and patience this year and wish you all a Happy New Year!

The Bow of Hart Saga Audio & Print News

There’s great news about the releases that literally just hit my inbox today. Podium Publishing has opted to publish individual editions of each book in the series rather than a single bundled edition of the entire series. This means that The Bow of Destiny will appear in audio beginning on 9/25 with pre-orders available soon. An Arrow Against the Wind will be released in audio in October with the exact date pending. The White Arrow will arrive in audio during November and that date is also pending.

Links and artwork will be forthcoming as soon as I have them so check back often for the latest information.

Since those audio editions will be released over three months, I’ve decided to schedule print release of the books beginning in December. I’ll share more details about print in an upcoming post but I’ll be focused on audio for several months.

Announcing BIG Writing News & More!

Greetings to all the Archer’s Aim readers! There have been few posts during the last couple of months, mainly because I’ve been on a break while I’ve been hard at work on my newest books.

There are number of new developments since the last updates but I want to thank the thousands of readers of The Bow of Hart Saga for all the support. This has been an amazing journey and it’s wonderful to have so many people along for the fun. It’s hard to explain how unusual it is for a first book, or first series, to capture the attention of so many people but I am humbled by the number of readers who have taken a chance on a newer author such as me and found the writing enjoyable. My sincere hope is to provide even more entertaining fiction in the near future.

Speaking of the future, here are a few updates about current and future books:

The Bow of Hart Saga is coming to audiobook on Audible on 9/25 ( the free books, Trading Knives and What Is Needed will release to audio on 9/20). Podium Publishing has the series in post-production and will send me the pre-order links as soon as they are available. It’s exciting to expand the availability of the series to audio and I’m looking forward to hearing the production soon for myself. Additionally, there will be some new artwork associated with the audiobook so I look forward to sharing that within a matter of weeks.

Since the series will expand into audio, I’ve decided to also offer the books in print. The series is self-published so I have few choices and lack true distribution channels to bookstores. With that in mind, I’m currently at work to release The Bow of Destiny in print on demand starting in September. An Arrow Against the Wind and The White Arrow will follow soon after during the fall. I’ve received quite a few requests for print so I’m happy to oblige!

Work on “Mage” (this is a codename) continues and I’m likely going to give Inkshares at try very soon. When the time comes, I’ll share more about the project and how it works on this hybrid publisher format. My decision is based on the need to publish in as many formats as possible upon release which is beyond my means to accomplish. Inkshares is a hybrid publisher which can release “Mage” in print, e-book and audio with full distribution to bookstores. A sample will be posted in the coming weeks with an opportunity for readers to support the project through pre-orders. Editing for “Mage” is progressing and, as things develop, I’ll share more about the book. Based on some early reactions, I think readers will really enjoy it. Take a moment and follow me on Inkshares where you can be sure to find out the latest about the book as it happens!

After some additional consideration, “Glove” (this is another codename) will likely also be given a chance on Inkshares. While this is a much shorter book than Mage, I believe it will be just as entertaining. However, since I have done so much dictation on my morning and evening commutes, I now have quite a backlog of editing. I’m working to get around to putting some time into this book, but it may be a couple of months before I actually get there.

Both “Mage” and “Glove” are exciting projects for me and I’m trying to take as much time as possible to properly develop them. Work on these books may be somewhat slow but I believe that they will turn out to be very rewarding novels for readers. I’m equally excited about sharing more regarding these books as time goes by and I can hardly contain myself. However, I do need to keep these books a bit under wraps until it’s much closer to releasing these two books.

I have two additional books that are starting two new series that I have also talked about. These will both likely to be LitRPG books. One of these is the first book of The Broken Shield Chronicles. I’m developing these two books in my spare time (like I have any) and I’m equally excited to be able to share more about them as soon as possible. Again, getting to these two books may take several months but I think they will also be very fun to read once they are ready.

There are so many new books in my writing pipeline and I look forward to releasing several beginning later this year or early next year. I don’t know my exact release schedule for the next sixteen months but I should be very busy constantly working to provide some fun, quality novels within a matter of months. I will have more information available over that time and hope to begin sharing about these novels as soon as I am able.

Look for more information about The Bow of Hart Saga audiobook and print release news within the next few weeks or so through the later part of September. Thanks again to all the readers and fans, I know that I would never have made it this far without you all. Please leave your thoughts and questions in the comments section and I’ll answer as soon as I can.
