It’s Here! An Arrow Against the Wind Released!

It’s been a long time coming but the release day of An Arrow Against the Wind has finally arrived. The book has been promised for over a year and many readers have asked for more during that time. I’m happy and excited to announce the book is now available for purchase on all retail sites.

There are a number of recent appearances I’ve made that have been posted on the News page. Today was my turn on Story Empire so I shared A Video Ode to Book Revision which compares the sometimes arduous task of revision with some fantasy videos. There are also blog appearances today on Bound 2 Escape and The Book Town.

I’d like to think a few people for some recent contributions. Staci Troilo over on Story Empire provided this nice piece of artwork:

Silver Dagger Scriptorium had this nice tour artwork for both books:

Also, Margaret Daly over at Rukia Publishing came up with this cool visual for their post of the new book:

My thanks for these pieces. They are wonderful additions to the series artwork.

Next, I want to thank all the readers who’ve already started the series and are already into An Arrow Against the Wind. It’s a privilege to share this story and I’m thankful for everyone’s patience, support and well-wishes for the new release. So many people have been so kind along the way, it’s amazing.

Strangely Energized!

I awoke strangely energized today. There’s a lot on my plate for the upcoming weeks but the sense of completion is exciting. Why? I uploaded An Arrow Against the Wind yesterday so it’s ready for release beginning on 4/24! It’s been a long journey to publication of my second novel but it’s finally here!

For anyone who has a few moments and would like to support the release, please click over to my release announcement on Headtalker and lend your support to the effort. Don’t mind the counter for supports as the number just indicates the minimum I set for support – more people than that can support it!

Also, An Arrow Against the Wind started on blog tour today. I’ll update the tour schedule regularly on my News page and anywhere else as well as with social media and here on the site.

I’m very excited about the release of this second book in The Bow of Hart Saga. With sales of The Bow of Destiny now over 5,400 copies. WOW! I wanted to take a moment and thank all the readers for their support for my book. The readers have been wonderful to join this journey with me and I’m thrilled to bring them the newest edition.

An Arrow Against the Wind was a bit of a struggle to complete and took much longer than I anticipated. A number of personal demands took my attention last year including an office move with my former employer and helping my daughter enter college. But I’ve been able to complete the book and it’s ready for everyone to read! So far, the pre-order response to the new book has been incredible and I’m looking forward to a busy release week. The book will begin on Monday with a $0.99 sale after which it will remain on sale for $2.99 for the duration of the month at least (if it’s going well, I’ll extend that sale price).

Many people who’ve read The Bow of Destiny asked when this new book would be out and I expect the same question for the last book of the series, The White Arrow. I’ve already started The White Arrow and hope to complete the rough draft in May and send it off to my editor for structural editing. My tentative publication date for the last book is late September.

Also, a lot of people have expressed interest in print books. Print for the series is a goal for this year, one which I hope to achieve sooner rather than later. I’ll post news about that goal as soon as I can.

Meanwhile, please join me on the blog tour and other events that I’m working over the next several weeks. Thanks again to all my readers and supporters – you’ve been wonderful!

Starting With Scrivener Pt. 2: Expanding Your Tool-Set

Tech Tips 3Scrivener is a powerful writing tool. I write about it weekly with tips and usage ideas. To read more of my posts click the Scrivener tag or category at the end of the page.

Last week’s post addressed the question, “Where do I start?” Hopefully, you’ve taken the plunge and started you first project. By now you probably feel more comfortable with what you are doing in Scrivener just by using the Editor since it isn’t very different from other such products.

You may have toyed with the Binder and found that it’s useful in arranging your project. If you haven’t yet worked in it, take some time to create some folders and documents and move them around. The Binder is very easy to use and is an excellent, graphical feature for organizing your writing.

There are several other features you can begin using in addition to the Binder and Editor. First, you can familiarize yourself with the Format menu which will help you get your document just right. Next, you can write with a customized background rather than seeing all the boring stuff – it’s easy to choose a background and toggle the feature on/off.

Now onto some really good tools you’ll find useful. You can create document templates for your project. This will help you create new documents and quickly jump into your creative work rather than wasting time configuring all the details each time.

Also, learn how to turn on the Inspector bar on the right side and access more tools. You’ll begin to use Notes, References, Keywords, customize Meta-Data, work with Snapshots as well as add Footnotes and Comments.

Please share your thoughts and ideas in the comments section.
