Late Progress Report

Greetings to everyone and apologies for skipping the post last week. I had a medical screening last Monday and the preparation over that weekend took up my time among other things. I’m on my feet and finally sharing my post. Not all of my posts will be about progress as I intend to share more fictionalized posts that get into my newest books and series, but today I’m sharing some of my progress.

The week before last, I had an interesting run after dark that got me thinking about plot, setting and much more. It lead to quite a bit of ideas for RM regarding additional content to complete the first book. These ideas added a better understanding of the construction of the first three books and how this first book will read. In the process, I also got to know some characters a little better so I have more to go on even if the reader doesn’t know the information upon publication. It’s all part of filling in the blanks I left for myself while writing the first draft.

Additionally, I’m starting to put some pieces into place that will allow The Bow of Hart Saga to be released in print this year. My hope is to complete that soon. It should allow me to meet some goals of getting out to a least one convention this year and possibly make some stops at libraries too. It should also make it easier to at least make the books available for order through bookstores for print copies too. My hope is to make more direct contact with readers in the future and learn a bit more about selling print since the next two series will launch with print in mind.

Everything is still a much slower process than I’d like but maybe I’ll build a bit of momentum early this year. I can actually say that I feel better physically than I have in years so my energy for launching these books and going into print is better than ever before now. I’m excited about the year and the possibilities as I work to make a few more things happen.

One really fun development this week was someone asking for digital autographs for all three books in The Bow of Hart Saga via Authorgraph. Not many people use this service to inject an autograph into their digital copies so it’s exciting when someone asks. If you’re interested in one, click that link to my author page on the site. The opportunity for a book-signing or two this year is one reason for going to print since I really want to meet readers in person and Authorgraph is another way of meeting readers.

Thanks for reading today. Please leave your thoughts and questions in the comments section and I’ll respond as soon as I can.

Betwixt & Between

I’m a little late with today’s post but I finally got to it. I went on an evening run and ended up going 4 miles for the second day in a row. It was nice for Alabama this time of year. We’re in a weather pattern where some evening showers are blowing up to take the humidity and heat out enough to make a run very comfortable.

I headed down our street a way that I normally don’t go since it usually has a lot of fast moving traffic. But there is a section of road down that way that is closed off for construction which meant my normal route was the detour road. It was interesting to run down that normally busy stretch of road with hardly any traffic. It was interesting to see that some people – aside from the local traffic – just didn’t seem to believe the signs and drove down to the construction anyway. I guess some people just needed to experience the sight first-hand.

While I was running a couple of storms drifted past the area. One went left and the other sailed right and I was stuck in the middle. As I approached the house I did see a bolt of lightning from the second storm. YIKES! I was glad I was near the house at that point.

Our apple tree has fire blight and it required we have it pruned back. Now it’s just a glorified bush. The tree was in such distress that it didn’t actually have that many apples this year. We hope it will sprout new limbs soon and again next spring and actually have more apples next year. Also, the mower deck isn’t ready yet but it should be any day. I completed all the regular maintenance on the tractor.

The fiction proposals have been completed and sent out to my agent. I think these two books are rounding out nicely though I don’t know when I’ll find out anything specific about them. Now it’s back to work on The White Arrow and I’m eager to work on it at this point. Also, I’ve come up with an idea for the cover so I’ll contact my artist and see what he thinks about it. I might have the cover by the end of the month at which time I’ll reveal the cover.

That’s all for today. Thanks for reading and feel free to leave comments.
