New Reviews for The Bow of Destiny Pt. 1

Book Cover Arrow Against The Wind Revised (2)Hello everyone! I hope you had a nice Labor Day! It’s back to the grind and I continue to work on my next book, An Arrow Against the Wind. I’m starting to firm up my schedule and hope to get news this week from my editor about her schedule. My hope is to have this ready sometime in December – much later than I expected this year but then it’s been very busy for me with many other concerns.

UPDATE: I’m still working on the current revision of An Arrow Against the Wind and hope to have it out in January. I don’t have a firm date yet and likely won’t until I get it back from the editor.

The Bow of Destiny continues to be well-received with several more reviews that have come in over the last few weeks. One of those was the one I’ve share from Bookwraiths.com – a fantasy reviewer who has his own blog and whose opinion I highly respect.

Update: Sales are booming for The Bow of Destiny and it’s even made an appearance in the top 25 of one Amazon Top 100 list during October.

But here’s one of the latest I’ve gotten in the last day or so that I thought I’d share. I’ve got more to post so I’ll get to them over the next few days.

Exceptional – From Mae Clair on Amazon & Goodreads – 5 stars:

It’s been a while since I’ve read a fantasy novel and this book reminded me of everything I’ve been missing. A great plot, strong characters, cryptid visions, a quest, adventure, and magic. The writing is polished, the scenes vivid and the pacing perfect for keeping the reader flipping pages. Truly, an epic fantasy novel with twists and turns aplenty.

The author’s world is populated by humans, elves, dwarves, giants and trolls (among others), and he does a great job of giving each race its own history and distinctive traits, effortlessly transporting the reader to a mesmerizing realm.

Bow of DestinyWhat really engages me in a novel, however, is my attachment to the characters. From hero, Athson to the band of adventurers that gathers around him, I was not disappointed. I especially like the handling of Athson’s growing relationship with Limbreth and also the way he interacted with the withling, Hastra. Even after finishing this book, the characters are still dancing around in my head, the sign of a fantastic journey.

One of the best books I’ve read this year, I highly recommend The Bow of Destiny, and eagerly look forward to the next in the series. Let the adventure continue!

I’m very thankful for the time this new reader has taken to review my book and post it. I’ll keep working hard to make An Arrow Against the Wind even better.

Meanwhile, The Bow of Destiny remains on sale through 9/9 at least (who knows, it may keep selling so well I might extend it!). Thanks for following and reading everyone!

Wrapping Up the Week (And More!) Vol. 2

fall-leavesToday, we close out much more than just a week! Something just happened this morning around 9:20 AM local time that went mostly unnoticed.

It just happened as write this post and you didn’t even notice it. The season slipped away in the matter of a moment, put away to only be revisited in memories. Summer ended with the passage of the Autumnal Equinox and now it’s the Fall of 2016. We just closed the door on a whole season of this year but best wishes to everyone on the upcoming season!

But The Bow of Destiny remains on sale for $0.99 for at least the next week. You can have a look at it via one of the banner links to your favorite e-book retailer on the sidebar.

I’ll spend the weekend catching up on life and try to enjoy the outdoors some as well. Fall is a busy season and this year will be no different. I’m looking forward to completing An Arrow Against the Wind and moving to The White Arrow as soon as possible to close out The Bow of Hart Saga and move onto some other fantasy projects on my creative mind. But no sense in getting too far ahead – right now I’m focused on the daily goals for completing An Arrow Against the Wind.

I’ll try to get out more information about the release of An Arrow Against the Wind next week as I get a handle on my schedule.

Wrapping Up the Week: New Readers & My Editing Schedule

the-bow-of-destiny-by-p-h-solomonJust sharing a few notes about my writing happenings from this week.

The Bow of Destiny remains on sale since it’s selling so well. If you haven’t read it yet, just click on one of the sales banners to the right or below and have a look. The response has been great and the price won’t remain discounted so low for much longer.

An Arrow Against the Wind is in progress and rounding out more this week as I continue work on it but more on that in a moment…

Here’s a really nice follow-up to something several weeks ago: a few of you may recall that I mentioned last month that The Bow of Destiny was being considered for use by a teacher who follows me. Well, here’s the update to that from my Twitter feed:

That’s wonderful news and I hope those students are getting something out of it as well as enjoying it. I can remember reading about the riddle contest between Bilbo Baggins and Gollum as a first-grader. It was a very fascinating scene to read and I wanted to read more. Once I was much more proficient as a reader several years later, I read The Hobbit. I think fiction of various kinds is important to read in school and this recent re-blog was interesting in that many of the authors who were asked about what should be included in school curriculum included a lot of speculative books. I’m glad someone is already using my book in a class – WOW!

Additionally, someone recently DM’d me on Twitter to ask if The Bow of Destiny is appropriate Book Cover Arrow Against The Wind Revised (2)for a 12 year old girl who loves fantasy. The book is actually written for all ages above about 13 or 14 so I suggested she read it first to make sure that she thinks it’s appropriate for a 12 year-old.

Now to An Arrow Against the Wind: I heard back from my editor and we’re a go with an open schedule for An Arrow Against the Wind pretty much whenever I get it ready. Once this second book is with the editor a final time, I hope to complete the rough draft of The White Arrow and maybe some work on a short story anthology. I’ll be buckling down on An Arrow Against the Wind as much as possible and that’s important because of these – the first is from a reader commenting on his rating on Goodreads and the second from a reviewer on Amazon:

Yep, people are starting to clamor for the next edition. With that being said, I’m working on a firm release date but it seems like An Arrow Against the Wind will be released somewhere between mid-December and early January if I can work everything out. I’ll make a firm decision based on progress in a few weeks and make the announcement then and make some plans for release events. Have a good weekend, everyone!
